The coalition officially opened their office on July 1, 2012 and has been partnering with community leaders and neighboring county coalitions for several years. They have a developing coalitions grant, but are looking for other ways to sustain the coalition for the future.
Under our state grants we have have been asked to target specific areas of substance abuse, which are Prescription Drug Abuse, Underage tobacco use, Underage Alcohol use/Binge Drinking, Underage Marijuana use, and Youth/Young Adult Stimulant use.
The Mission of the Smith County Drug Prevention Coalition is to unite the citizens and organizations of Smith County to reduce underage alcohol abuse, underage tobacco use, and overall prescription drug abuse.
